YIN YOGA FOR SURFERS WORKSHOP
A DIFFERENT KIND OF BREAK
Wave Riders, this one's for you. Join us for two hours of tension-relieving, mobility-boosting, injury-preventing bliss with fellow surfer, yogi and whale diver, Kristina Aitchison!
Yin Yoga is the perfect balancing practice for surfers, athletes and busy people, complementing the rigours of daily life with a gentle release for body and mind. No effort, no strain, just a simple surrender as we let gravity do the work for us.
In this two hour workshop, you'll melt into long holds and deep stretches that target common problem areas among the surfing community, complemented with 'roll + release' techniques to get into any congested or super tight areas. Just like a massage! The subtle pressure placed on your connective tissues (tendons, ligaments + fascia) boosts circulation to muscles and joints, which helps to alleviate discomfort, improve flexibility and increase mobility.
As well as finding deep physical release, yin yoga can also be a very meditative practice, as we cultivate awareness of the present moment, find inner stillness and silence, and connect to breath, body and mind. We'll finish the session with a nourishing, guided Yoga Nidra for the deepest of rest, repair and relaxation.
This workshop is designed for surfers, but suitable for anyone who is holding tightness or tension in the body (let's face it - that's all of us). Anyone in the community can receive the full benefits of this workshop, and we firmly believe the more the merrier! See you there!
