Choc Hemp Brownies + 4 Benefits of Hemp



TOO DELICIOUS TO BE TRUE!

These Choc Hemp Brownies are currently our favourite dessert. Basically we set out to cure our chocolate cravings this Easter whilst keeping it as natural and simple as possible. The best part? These guys contain the superfood hemp seed which come with a range of health benefits like:


〰️ High Protein: Hemp seeds are extremely high in plant based protein meaning that they provide all essential amino acids. Not sure what amino acids are? Well basically they're the building blocks for all proteins. The body simply cannot produce all nine of these amino acids, so we rely on diet (and delicious bars like this) to absorb them.


〰️ High Vitamin: Hemp seeds contain an impressive array of vitamins and minerals such as iron zinc, b vitamins, vitamin e and Magnesium. Magnesium is the chemical the body uses to product cortisol (the stress hormone). So foods rich in magnesium can help with stress, anxiety and also muscle tension!


〰️ High Fiber: Just 3 tablespoons of hemp seed contain approximately 1.2g fibre to help stabilise blood sugar levels and promote a healthy gut


〰️ Anti Inflammatory: Hemp seeds include a healthy balance of omega-3 and omega-6 which are anti-inflammatory compounds for acne and other skin conditions.


If that's not reason enough, these guys are super simple and super easy to make. You can whip them up in less than 10 mins. No blender necessary.


Dairy free, no eggs, no gluten, no refined sugar and vegan-friendly!

Set Time 40 mins

Total time 50 mins


Ingredients

Base Layer

1/2 cup hemp seeds

3 cups Rice Bubbles

1 1/2 cups of natural peanut butter (smooth)

1/3 cup maple syrup

Optional: 1 tsp vanilla; Pinch of salt


Top Layer

1 1/2 cup vegan dark chocolate chips

1 tbsp natural cashew butter

1 tbsp coconut oil

Optional: Dash of oak milk


Method

  1. For the base layer, you'll need a large bowl to mix 1/2 cup hemp seeds, 3 cups Rice Bubbles, 1 1/2 cups of natural peanut butter (smooth), 1/3 cup maple syrup or condensed milk. Option to add 1 tsp vanilla and Pinch of salt. Stir by hand until well blended. The consistency should be quite sticky and firm.

  2. Press the base layer into a container. Make sure the base layer is even and firm.

  3. For the top layer, you'll need a small saucepan to heat the 1 1/2 cup vegan dark chocolate chips, 1 tbsp natural cashew butter and 1 tbsp coconut oil on low setting. Continue to stir until completely melted. If you're finding it's too chunky adding a dash of oat milk to thin it our works a charm.

  4. Spoon on top of base layer. It should be thick and creamy.

  5. That's it! Pop in freezer to set for 40 mins. We recommend continuing to store in freezer so it's fresh to enjoy.
